JAKARTA - Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Maman Abdurrahman and Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) related to synchronization and policy support of tourism and MSME development programs.

"If we want to encourage economic growth, in this case MSME entrepreneurs through the tourism sector, there is a lot of potential and opportunity," continued Maman.

Maman continued, there are around 25.6 million potential employment from the tourism sector and this will be optimized.

"I hope this MoU can provide optimization of performance for tourism activists and also MSME entrepreneurs," he said.

One way, Minister Maman added, is through tourist villages with a total of more than 6,000. Based on data obtained from the Ministry of Tourism, he continued, there are more than 6,000 tourist villages in Indonesia.

"For example, next year, the orientation of the development of MSMEs will be focused on tourism villages, I think it will have a double effect," he said.
