JAKARTA - The Coordinating Ministry for Regional Infrastructure and Development (Kemenko IPK) admits that the demand for green electricity will increase in line with the realization of the 2025-2034 PLN Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL).
This was revealed by the Deputy for Basic Infrastructure Coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Rachmat Kaimuddin, who responded to the additional capacity of New and Renewable Energy-based power plants (EBT) of 876.5 Mega Watt (MW) throughout January June 2025, an increase of only 0.6 percent.
"Starting from the zero point when the RUPTL came out. We will see from 6 months to 1 year in the future, 2 years in the future, that's where the process is," Rachmat told the media crew, Wednesday, August 13.
According to him, the RUPTL, which was just released last May, could increase investment realization in the EBT sector. Rachmat said, this new RUPTL is quite ambitious.
"It's really been a very extraordinary shift from our ambition to have more green electricity," he continued.
According to him, the development of new and renewable energy-based power plants (EBT) in Indonesia has stumbled upon a number of challenges, one of which is the lack of domestic demand.
"No investment has started, 'I woke up first, later I can create the market.' Rarely like that," explained Rachmat.

On the other hand, to grow demand for clean energy must be accompanied by industrial developments that require the resulting green electricity.
Previously, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) reported that there were additional power plants from New Renewable Energy (EBT) from January to June 2025 of 876.5 Mega Watts (MW).
The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, said that previously at the end of 2024, the total green power plant capacity was recorded at 761.9 MW. Thus, there was an increase of 0.6 percent.
With this green plant, the total capacity of EBT plants in Indonesia has reached 15.2 Giga Watt (GW).
