RI's 80th Anniversary Long Holiday, KAI Adds 14 Train Trips

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) added 14 train trips (KA) to anticipate the high interest of people traveling on the long weekend holiday in commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.

KAI Vice President Public Relations Anne Purba said this addition was a form of KAI's commitment to optimally serve customers, in line with the theme of Indonesia's 80th Anniversary.

He said that this weekend's long holiday is expected to be an important moment for people to travel.

"KAI sees a potential increase in demand, especially during the long holiday period 16-18 August 2025. The addition of this train trip is our effort to accommodate customer needs so that they can celebrate independence day with their families in their hometowns or enjoy a comfortable vacation," Anne said in her statement, Sunday, August 14.

As for the long holiday period 16-18 August 2025, KAI will operate a total of 14 additional train trips with a capacity of 6,712 seats per day. Meanwhile, the total additional capacity available for 3 (three) days is 19,060 seats.

The addition of this trip utilizes available stationary facilities and spare trains. For additional train routes that are favorites, including Jakarta, Yogyakarta to Solo, Jakarta - Bandung and Yogyakarta Surabaya. On these routes, passengers usually experience an increase in long holiday moments," he explained.

The additional trains that operate during the long holiday to commemorate the 80th Indonesian Independence Day in 2025 include:

He said that KAI noted that public interest in using trains as environmentally friendly transportation continues to increase.

As for July 2025, KAI has served a total of 5,363,655 passengers and of this number, 3,998,598 are economy class passengers, 75,881 business class passengers and 1,289,176 executive class passengers.

"KAI hopes that with this additional trip, the public can celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia with a full spirit of unity and joy.
