JAKARTA - PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI) recorded that until the end of June 2025 the number of Mandiri Student Savings accounts had reached more than 2.8 million accounts with an increase of 15.27 percent year-on-year (yoy).

"SimPel Savings has become part of our efforts to build the financial foundation of Indonesian students. Bank Mandiri wants to make saving habits a lifestyle from an early age, as well as encourage the younger generation to be financially independent," said Bank Mandiri's SVP Retail Deposit Product Solution Rudi Nugraha in his official statement, quoted on Sunday, August 10.

Rudi conveyed that in welcoming the 80th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, Bank Mandiri strengthened its contribution in expanding financial literacy among the younger generation.

He added that through the expansion of the Mandiri Simple Savings (Student Savings), Bank Mandiri encouraged the formation of a student financial character from an early age as part of efforts to develop a sustainable economy.

According to him, this is part of the company's long-term strategy in accelerating financial access for all levels of society, as well as supporting the government's vision of creating the 2045 golden generation.

He conveyed that one of the main pillars was the synergy with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) through the One Account One Student (KEJAR) movement.

Rudi said Bank Mandiri had held more than 200 financial literacy and education activities at various levels of school from elementary to secondary schools, spread across various parts of Indonesia.

"This activity also involves the process of opening SimPel accounts as a concrete step to expand banking access to students," he explained.

Rudi explained that Bank Mandiri views financial literacy as an important element in equitable development.

"We continue to expand our reach, both through infrastructure, collaboration, and sustainable education. This is part of the spirit of Independent Steps for Advanced Indonesia which we provide to accelerate sustainable growth," he added.

He added that Bank Mandiri's transformation in the digital services sector and financial products was also focused on reaching the younger generation.

According to him, with an adaptive and educational approach, Bank Mandiri seeks to instill financial understanding from an early age.

Rudi said that this effort was an important part of Bank Mandiri's journey to empower the community financially, starting from classrooms to remote areas of the country.

Bank Mandiri believes that economic development must be supported by even literacy. Financial education for students today is a social investment for the nation's future," he concluded.
