KUR Housing Gives Sure Hope For MBR To Have A Home Ideal

JAKARTA - Public policy observer Trisakti University Trubus Rahadiansyah said the housing People's Business Credit (KUR) policy plan provides definite hope for low-income people (MBR) to be able to have a decent and affordable dream home.

"I see that this policy, what it is called, gives more definite hope than the people of MBR. Yes, if I see this, it's actually a good policy. We appreciate the efforts, meaning that this government is just a policy formulation, a policy formulation whose direction will be implemented later," Trubus said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, August 8.

According to him, so far the people of MBR have really had difficulty getting an affordable and habitable house.

With the housing KUR, there is a guarantee from the government for MBR in the housing sector.

In addition, the housing KUR will also encourage housing developers to commit and be responsible for realizing the provision of quality housing for MBR as part of the 3 Million House Program.

"In my opinion, actually, the housing KUR for the people must be developed in various parts of Indonesia because the need for housing for the lower class is increasing day by day," said Trubus.

He suggested that the government have a bailout or contingency plan in order to anticipate that non-performing loans (NPL) do not occur, considering that MBR, which mostly works as informal workers with uncertain income.

"Of course, in this case, what is important is the responsibility of the MBR. This MBR is because its work is informal and its income is uncertain, so the government must have a bailout fund to how it will anticipate when they are no longer able to pay their home loan installments," he said.

Deputy Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Fahri Hamzah said regulations related to the People's Business Credit or Housing KUR scheme would be announced following the decision of the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.

Lebih jauh, Fahri mengatakan, mereka terus melakukan percepatan agar skema KUR itu bisa diperluas ke sektor perumahan.

Dirinya menilai, percepatan itu dilakukan agar dampak ekonomi dari program di sektor tersebut dapat terwujud, seperti salah satunya pembukaan lapangan kerja.

Penerapan KUR Perumahan tersebut didukung oleh berbagai pemangku kepentingan, termasuk Danantara dan sejumlah BUMN, serta dikoordinasikan oleh Menteri Koordinator Bidang Perekonomian Airlangga Hartarto bersama Menteri Keuangan Sri Mulyani.

Furthermore, Fahri said, they continue to accelerate so that the KUR scheme can be expanded to the housing sector.

He considered that the acceleration was carried out so that the economic impact of the program in the sector could be realized, one of which was the opening of employment opportunities.

The implementation of the Housing KUR is supported by various stakeholders, including Danantara and a number of SOEs, and coordinated by the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto with the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani.
