JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI managed to save the ticket paper purchase budget of IDR 239 million.

KAI Vice President Public Relations Anne Purba said that the level of customer confidence in KAI's digital services continued to increase. Throughout January 1 to July 31, 2025, 6,318,132 customers chose to use Face Recognition when boarding, replacing physical tickets.

"This innovation made KAI succeeded in saving the purchase of 16,295 ticket paper rollers worth Rp239,129,125, in line with the company's commitment to efficiency and sustainability," he said in an official statement, August 7.

Anne said customer confidence in Face Recognition technology shows that the digital transformation we are doing is in line with the increasingly practical needs of society and is certainly environmentally friendly.

Since its first launch in 2022, continued Anne, a total of 16,398,343 customers have taken advantage of this service.

How to Sign Up for Face Recognition

Anne invites KAI users to register for a face recognition in the Access by KAI application. Even though it is based on biometrics, data security remains a priority.

1. Download or update the Access by KAI app.

2. Sign in or create an account.

3. Select the Account menu > Face Recognition registration.

4. Agree to terms and conditions.

5. Fill in your personal data and upload selfies.

6. Click List now.

Once registered, the customer simply scans the face on the boarding gate. If all the data is valid, the door will open automatically without the need to print a ticket or queue for manual checks," said Anne.
