The Ministry Of Transportation Wants Transjakarta Routes To Tanjung Priok To The Port

The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) is working on reopening the Transjakarta route to Tanjung Priok Port, North Jakarta. The goal is to support the mobility of passengers and workers in the port area.

Director of Intermodal Transportation Integration Infrastructure of the Ministry of Transportation, Sigit Irfansyah said that Transjakarta services only reached Tanjung Priok Terminal, not yet entering the port area.

This condition, continued Sigit, makes people use private vehicles more to ports because transportation has not been integrated.

"We want to optimize Transjakarta in Tanjung Priok, which so far is only the Tanjung Priok Terminal. Now we are working with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to encourage the operation to enter to the port," he said at a press conference in Jakarta, Tuesday, August 5.

Sigit said that Transjakarta services to Tanjung Priok Port are available by request or request and are only activated when there is a surge in passengers, such as during the Lebaran and New Year homecoming flows.

In terms of business, continued Sigit, the potential for daily passengers at Tanjung Priok Port is also quite large.

Every day, he continued, there are around 2,000 4-wheeled vehicles to the passenger port area, and about 4,000 2-wheeled vehicles.

"Why not just regularize it? This Transjakarta is a clear headway, the cost is cheap and stable. This can also help employees who work in port passenger areas," he explained.

Sigit said the port operator PT Pelindo (Persero) is ready to realize the program. For example, the construction of passenger shelters at the port as a pick-up point and decrease of passengers at the port.

"We have chatted with Pelindo, KSOP, and Customs and Excise, they are ready to support and reduce the number of use of private vehicles," he said.

Menurut Sigit, pengoperasian Transjakarta sampai pelabuhan ini tidak sekadar mengakomodir kebutuhan para calon penumpang, tetapi juga pekerja di pelabuhan. Sehingga diharapkan dapat mengurangi penggunaan kendaraan pribadi.

“Kita mau transportasi terpadu, berkelanjutan. Diharapkan dengan pengoperasian ini bisa mengurangi jumlah pengguna kendaraan pribadi ke Tanjung Priok,” ucapnya.

According to Sigit, the operation of Transjakarta to this port is not only accommodating the needs of prospective passengers, but also workers at the port. So it is hoped that it can reduce the use of private vehicles.

"We want integrated, sustainable transportation. It is hoped that this operation can reduce the number of private vehicle users to Tanjung Priok," he said.
