Tiket.com Boss Admits There Is An Economic Weakening: People Are Shorter

JAKARTA - The digital travel and lifestyle platform Tiket.com does not deny the current economic downturn.

This is due to the decrease in hotel bookings from four to three stars by the community.

"Maybe it's because of the economy, yes, we saw that people moved a little cheaper. One, yes, he's a shorter stay, so it's like a shorter rate. Then the second one who previously stayed at a 4th star hotel, we saw that it had dropped to 3 stars," said Co-Founder & CEO of Tiket.com Dimas Surya Yaputra at the 14th "aNEWversary" event Tiket.com in Jakarta, Tuesday, August 5.

According to Dimas, currently most hotels are competing to lower prices.

The reason, he said, is that if the hotel price is too expensive, it will be empty of enthusiasts.

"That's why now (mostly) hotels are also competing to lower prices because they don't sell so expensively. Also those who previously (intended) to the US (United States), maybe move them to Tokyo or Kuala Lumpur times, yes, because they are closer. So, saving time with saving money," he said.

In addition, said Dimas, currently people's holiday style has changed. According to him, most people are now no longer on vacation and tend to stay overnight for a short period of time.

This is believed to be due to the weakening condition of the economy that is currently happening.

"We see that there are still many people who travel. However, the behavior has changed, it's a little more efficient and a little more picky, shorter, really (time to stay)," he explained.

Sementara itu, Co-Founder & CMO Tiket.com Gaery Undarsa menyampaikan, adanya peningkatan dari sisi akomodasi sampai semester I-2025.

Kenaikan bisa mencapai sekitar 23 persen dibandingkan periode sama tahun lalu.

"Berarti minatnya masyarakat itu sebenarnya sangat bagus, despite ekonomi sudah mulai naik gitu," pungkasnya.

Meanwhile, Co-Founder & CMO Tiket.com Gaery Undarsa said there was an increase in accommodation until the first semester of 2025.

The increase could reach around 23 percent compared to the same period last year.

"This means that people's interest is actually very good, economic debris has started to rise," he concluded.
