Minister Of Agriculture Amran Ensures Indonesia's Food Security Is Safe

JAKARTA - Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman ensured that national food security was in a safe condition. He conveyed this after attending a limited meeting chaired by President Prabowo Subianto at the State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 30.

This certainty is in line with the absorption of dry grain from farmers by the end of this year, and is estimated to reach 2.5 to 3 million tons.

"Still we absorb (dry rice), hopefully by the end of the year (as much as) 2.5 or 3 million tons. And this is quite high. Our food security is safe," Amran told the media crew quoting from the Presidential Secretariat Youtube channel, Wednesday, July 30.

He again assured that this year's food production showed a positive trend and the national stock was in the highest position in history. In the middle of only the year, the rice stock in Perum Bulog's warehouse was 4.2 million tons.

"God willing, we hope, we convey to the whole community that our food is in a very safe position because our stock is the highest so far," said Amran.

Furthermore, said the Minister of Agriculture, with sufficient production conditions and strong reserves, the government has intensified market operations to maintain price and supply stability at the consumer level.

"God willing, our production is quite good this year, our stock is large, so we carry out massive market operations," said Amran.

As part of market intervention, the government has prepared rice supplies from the Food Supply and Price Stabilization (SPHP) program of 1.3 million tons and an additional 365,000 tons of social assistance rice reserves (bansos).

This step was taken to ensure food distribution remains smooth and prices are maintained amid potential market turmoil, while at the same time affirming the government's commitment to maintaining national food security.
