MBG Target 82.9 Million People, BGN Boss Says Egg Needs Soar

JAKARTA - Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, said, to meet food needs from the Free Nutrition Food Program (MBG), the government needs around 50,000 tons of eggs every day.

This figure is adjusted to the target of 82.9 million beneficiaries.

This was stated in the Safety and Sustainability of Free Nutrious Meals Program in Indonesia held by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) at the IPB International Convention Center, Bogor, Wednesday, July 23.

With 82.9 million beneficiaries, it means that every day we need and cook 50,000 tons of eggs per day. I invite all parties to join and participate in the Free Nutrition Food program. This is not only about food, but about the future of the Indonesian generation," Dadan said in his statement.

Dadan emphasized the government's commitment to expanding the reach of MBG through strengthening the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) throughout Indonesia. Since the program was launched on January 6, Dadan said its implementation was still on the right track.

Initially, the target for beneficiaries this year was 17.5 million people. However, the President requested that all target recipients of 82.9 million people be achieved before the end of November. Therefore, we work hard every day," he said.

To support this achievement, as many as 30,000 candidates for the Head of the SPPG are targeted to be spread throughout Indonesia until the end of November or early December 2025.

As of this week, BGN is targeting an assignment of 10,000 SPPG, higher than the original target of 8,000.

Dadan emphasized that SPPG is not just a public kitchen. He has three main functions: production kitchens, common ground between producers and buyers, as well as community empowerment centers based on local potential.

The recruited workers also came from the local community, including nutritionists.

Previously, the Special Staff of the Head of BGN for Communication, Redy Hendra Gunawan, said that on August 17, 2025, or to coincide with the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), the distribution of the MBG program could already target 24 million beneficiaries.

"According to the president's direction, on August 17, the National Nutrition Agency will be able to serve beneficiaries of at least 24 million beneficiaries," he said when giving a weekly update statement which was broadcast online, quoted on Sunday, July 20.

Capaian itu didukung adanya 30.000 calon Kepala SPPG yang telah selesai menjalani pelatihan serta pendidikan yang akan memperkuat pelaksanaan program di lapangan.

Selain itu, hingga hari ini tercatat sebanyak 20.000 calon mitra telah mendaftar untuk bergabung dalam ekosistem program MBG.

Dari jumlah tersebut, 10.957 mitra tengah menjalani proses verifikasi oleh tim BGN.

Menurut Redy, langkah ini menunjukkan keseriusan BGN dalam membangun sistem pangan bergizi yang masif, terstruktur, dan berkelanjutan, demi mendukung ketahanan gizi nasional.

This achievement is supported by the presence of 30,000 candidates for the Head of the SPPG who have finished undergoing training and education which will strengthen the implementation of programs in the field.

In addition, to date, as many as 20,000 potential partners have registered to join the MBG program ecosystem.

Of these, 10,957 partners are undergoing the verification process by the BGN team.

According to Redy, this step shows BGN's seriousness in building a massive, structured and sustainable nutritious food system, in order to support national nutritional security.
