Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) Arief Prasetyo Adi revealed that all regulations governing the highest retail price (HET) of rice will be changed. Later HET will no longer be distinguished based on the category of medium or premium rice.

With this new regulation that is being prepared, continued Arief, the price of rice can later be lower than the premium rice HET.
Currently, the HET of premium rice is IDR 14,900 for zone II. In Zone II, the HET of premium rice is IDR 15,400 per kg. Meanwhile, in Zone III, it is IDR 15,800 per kg.
Arief said that with this new system, there will only be an upper limit price, no longer a classification based on premium or medium types. Currently, the price adjustment is in the process of being calculated.
"If you look like this, you think it's more expensive or not? It's lower," he said.
Arief said the decision on the price of this upper limit would be taken through a follow-up meeting. He ensured that the entire process was carried out as quickly as possible, considering that the findings in the field showed a discrepancy between the quality and label of the packaging of rice in circulation.
"We want it to be fast. We've seen earlier, in fact the rice is premium, the contents are not premium. Instead of being like that, it's just rice, right. People will see the preferences later," he said.
