Restore Community Activities, 33.163,69 Tons of Disaster Lumpur-Garbage in Aceh Have Been Hauled Away

JAKARTA - A total of 33,163.69 tons of mud, garbage and debris from disasters have been cleaned and transported from a number of disaster-affected areas in Aceh Province until August 9, 2026.

Cleaning was carried out in a number of areas, including Aceh Tamiang Regency, Central Aceh and Pidie Jaya.

Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo said that handling mud was one of the things that was prioritized, especially in Aceh Tamiang which experienced sedimentation and mud accumulation was quite significant.

"Handling mud is one of the main priorities. Since the beginning of the disaster, sedimentation and mud are one of the main post-disaster problems in Aceh, especially in Aceh Tamiang. Therefore, it must be immediately cleaned so that the community can return to activities and the environment can be restored," said Dody, quoted from a written statement, Wednesday, August 12.

In addition to transporting disaster materials, cleaning has been carried out at 650 locations of public facilities (fasum) affected by disasters in Aceh.

A total of 68 residential areas have also been completed and cleaned. The materials lifted include mud, domestic waste and debris from the disaster that hindered the activities of residents.

Handling is also carried out at sanitation and sampling facilities that are affected.

Of the 10 affected Final Processing Sites (TPA), five locations have been completed. Meanwhile, the other five locations are still in the process of being worked on.

For 10 Sewage Sludge Treatment Plants (IPLT), all 10 disaster-affected locations have been completed.

Apart from sanitation and sampling facilities, recovery was also carried out on a number of other basic infrastructure.

The Ministry of PU said that the handling includes a system for providing drinking water, roads, bridges, and water resources infrastructure, by adjusting the level of damage and needs in the field.

Cleaning and restoration are carried out so that the affected facilities can be used again and community activities gradually return to normal.
