JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) targets that road repairs in the regions begin at the beginning of the third quarter of 2025 in accordance with Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 11 of 2025 concerning Accelerating Improvement of Regional Road Connectivity to Support Food and Energy Self-Sufficiency.
The implementation of the Regional Road Instruction is a strategic step for the central government to improve connectivity between regions by repairing damaged regional roads, both provincial and district/city roads.
PU Minister Dody Hanggodo said that the availability of good connectivity infrastructure is an important factor in increasing the nation's competitiveness, supporting regional economic growth and accelerating equitable development.
"With the improvement of the regional road quickly and effectively, we believe that the potential for food and energy sources in the regions will develop optimally and make a positive contribution to the welfare of the community," said Dody in a written statement, Wednesday, July 23.
Based on data from the Ministry of Public Works until the deadline for proposing July 22, 2025, it was recorded that 3,136 regional road project proposals had been submitted from 531 local governments.
The proposal is currently being verified to be further set in the priority list of handling based on the value of economic benefits, food self-sufficiency support and regional connectivity.
"There are still many of our rice fields when harvesting have difficulty being brought to the nearest markets. That is why one of the reasons the Regional Road Inpres is still needed and we are trying to get this community-based infrastructure started as soon as possible, the target is that early in the third quarter we have to start physical work," he said.
According to Dody, the budget allocation for regional road handling through the 2025 Regional Road Inpres is around Rp. 4 trillion. The priority of handling regional roads is to increase the productivity of food areas and smooth energy distribution.

The issuance of Presidential Instruction Number 11 of 2025 is needed to accelerate the improvement of road connectivity in the area of food and energy distribution in order to realize Astacita towards Indonesia Gold 2045.
The handling of regional roads is also in line with the implementation of the PU608 strategy by opening up economic potential which so far has not been optimally exploited through increasing connectivity infrastructure.
