JAKARTA - PT Hutama Karya (Persero) or HK will soon impose a toll tariff on the Pekanbaru 'Padang Section' Sicincin which is part of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) in the near future.
Executive Vice President (EVP) Corporate Secretary Hutama Karya Adjib Al Hakim said the tariff determination plan had the blessing of the Minister of Public Works (PU) as stated in the Decree of the Minister of Public Works (PU) Number 672/KPRT/M/2025.
The Ministerial Decree regulates the Determination of Types of Motorized Vehicles and the Rate of Toll Rates for the Pekanbaru Toll Road "Padang Section of Sicincin" Padang, which was signed on July 16, 2025.
"Previously, this toll road had been operated without tariffs since May 28, 2025, as part of the introduction and period of socialization to the public. Given, this section is the first toll road in West Sumatra Province," said Adjib as quoted from his written statement, Tuesday, July 22.
HK said that the 36-kilometer-long toll road is one of the strategic sections that helps distribute traffic densities on national roads.
According to Adjib, the toll road plays a major role in accelerating connectivity between regions, facilitating logistics distribution and encouraging tourism growth and MSMEs around the Padang 'Sicincin Toll Road.
Even so, HK has not specified the Padang 'Sicincin Toll tariff. The reason is, it is currently still in the socialization stage.
"Because this is the first toll road in West Sumatra, we use the initial stage of operating without tariffs to introduce toll roads thoroughly to the public. Before the tariff is set, the company also ensures that socialization has been carried out regarding the amount of tariffs and the massive implementation date through various communication channels," he said.
The Padang 'Sicincin Toll Road has been operating without tariffs, aka free since May 28, 2025, after passing the Functional Feasibility Test (ULF) on January 22-24, 2025 and subsequently obtaining an Operational Functional Feasibility Certificate (SLFO) on April 30, 2025 from the Ministry of Public Works.
It is known that the presence of the Padang 'Sicincin Toll Road will significantly cut the travel time from Padang City, which previously took about 1.5 hours through national roads to only 30 minutes using toll roads.
