RI-AS Completes Trade Agreement Through Joint Statement

The Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs stated that Indonesia and the United States (US) are currently finalizing a joint statement document as a form of mutual agreement between the two countries.

Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Susiwijono Moegiarso conveyed that this document would officially explain to the public the points resulting from the agreed negotiations.

"Because Trump has also conveyed, later in detail, we with the US government, especially with the United States Trade Representative (USTR), we will make a joint statement. So the joint statement explains to the public, what exactly is the decision," told the media crew, Friday, July 18.

Susiwijono said that there will be several main points in the Joint Statement, namely the determination of the resipulation rate where one of the main points is the determination of the resipulation rate of 19 percent which is the basis for the trade agreement which is being formulated together.

Then, the elimination of non-tariff barriers such as non-taiff measures, import permits, local content policies, and other technical regulations are agreed to be completed in stages.

Furthermore, he conveyed the commitment to purchase US products including energy, agriculture, and cooperation in the aviation sector and so on.
