PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI) has completed the construction of two rest areas or service rest areas (TIP) on the Padang 'Sicincin Toll Road at the end of last June.

The food court building in the 36.6 kilometer toll road rest area is designed by adopting the architecture of the Minangkabau traditional house.

"As of the end of June 2025, the progress of the construction of the Padang 'Sicincin Toll Road rest area has reached 100 percent. These two rest areas are located at STA 23+000, each on track A, namely from Padang to Sicincin and lane B from Sicincin to Padang," said Operations III Director of HKI Aditya Novendra Jaya as quoted from his written statement, Friday, July 18.

Padang'S Toll Rest Area Facility Sicincin

Rest and Service at the Padang 'Sicincin Toll Road is a type A rest area. The facilities built by HKI in the rest area include mosques, public toilets, disabled toilets, clinics and workshops. Then, there are management offices, waste treatment buildings, food courts that can accommodate 16 MSME tenants as well as one minimarket and land preparation for gas stations.

To support the smooth mobility and comfort of toll road users, rest areas on lane A provide parking for 212 class I vehicles and 57 class II vehicles to V.

Meanwhile, on lane B, parking capacity is available for 213 class I vehicles and 59 class II vehicles to V.

Building Carrying Neo Vernacular Design

The food court building in the rest area carries a neo vernagular architectural design that adopts the Minangkabau traditional house design with contemporary materials.

The use of modern materials is combined with typical Minang ornaments, such as crowns, bat chests, fish fins and traditional carving motifs. All of these materials are produced by local craftsmen.

"HKI is not just building physical, but also caring for cultural heritage. To ensure that this rest area architecture can represent Minang culture, we also collaborate with Minang Ranah specialists in carrying outgonjong work (plancave and towering roofs) and aspig (sidewalls or outside edges of the house) on food court buildings," he said.

The rest area on the Padang 'Sicincin Toll Road is expected to increase the experience and comfort of people who pass as well as support the smooth flow of traffic on the toll road.
