JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo ensures infrastructure support to support the development of national football.
This was conveyed in a meeting with the General Chair of the All-Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Erick Thohir and the Mayor of Depok Supian Suri at the PU Ministry office, Jakarta, Thursday, July 3.
"The Ministry of Public Works is always ready to support PSSI in improving the quality of national football, both the construction or rehabilitation of stadiums and the needs of other facilities and infrastructure," said Dody as quoted from his written statement, Friday, July 4.
On that occasion, Dody agreed on a proposal to draft a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as a concrete step to strengthen the synergy between the Ministry of Public Works and PSSI.

In addition, Dody also expressed his support for PSSI's plan to coordinate with the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) to accelerate the process of handing over the stadium that has been built by the Ministry of Public Works to the local government (Pemda).
"The process of handing over management to the regional government is very important and needs to be accelerated so that the stadium has been built not to be neglected and damaged," he said.
Meanwhile, PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir appreciated the commitment and full support from the Ministry of Public Works for the progress of Indonesian football.
"We really appreciate the support of the Ministry of Public Works to realize sustainable and modern national football. PSSI will also continue to adjust national football mapping so that it is in line with the infrastructure's vision to be built," he said.
In addition, the meeting also discussed plans for the construction of a new stadium in Depok City with a larger capacity and met the standards for holding national team matches.
"So far, football matches have been held at the old Depok stadium with only a capacity of around 2,000 people. With the support of the Ministry of Public Works and PSSI, we hope to hold football matches in stadiums more feasible," said Depok Mayor Supian Suri.
