JAKARTA - In an effort to achieve equal access to energy throughout the country, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) targets all villages not yet electrified to get an energy connection within the next five years.
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia said the Solar Power Plant (PLTS) would be the government's main solution to reach rural areas, mountains and remote islands in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto's direction.
"Mr. President has said that within 4-5 years, God willing, we will install electricity through PLTS, cooperation will be private, PLN, and the state," Bahlil said as quoted from his written statement, Saturday, June 26.
Currently, it is known that there are still around 5,600 villages in Indonesia that have not yet received access to electricity. Therefore, the state is obliged to be present to fulfill the basic rights of the community, including the right to energy.
