BONDOWOSO - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia has opened his voice regarding the many rejections of the project to build Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

According to Bahlil, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources will continue to disseminate information in areas that have geothermal potential. Bahlil admitted that the rejection that occurred was actually because the community did have various considerations, so he prioritized communication with the parties involved.

"We will socialize it well. If our brothers and sisters there are still considering, then we will continue to communicate first. Don't do it first," Bahlil told the media crew at the Ijen PLTP, Thursday, June 26.

For this reason, Bahlil admitted that he would still prioritize areas that have potential and want to develop geothermal projects for power generation sources.

"For areas that we really want, the government wants, that's what we prioritize first. So this must be a psychological lesson. The spiritual atmosphere must be all good, yes," explained Bahlil.

With these considerations, he emphasized that the government will carry out a geothermal project if the community is willing to accept this potential to be developed

"If we can't accept it, don't rush it," said Bahlil.

Previously, the Director General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE), Eniya Listiani Dewi, would soon meet with the Governor of East Nusa Tenggara Province, Melkiades Laka Lena to discuss the continuation of the geothermal project on Flores Island. This meeting will also discuss the continuation of the rejection of the construction of the Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP).

Eniya explained that the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources had deployed a team directly to six geothermal locations on Flores Island to conduct a sample test or verification and validation of field data. The results of the picking test have then been reported directly to Eniya for further discussion with stakeholders in NTT.

"The report has been to me, but I will meet the Governor (NTT) maybe next week," said Eniya to the media crew when met at The Langham Jakarta, Wednesday, June 19.
