JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI recorded an increase in Jabodebek LRT users by 12 percent.
The increase in users was driven by the policy of the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) being required to use public transportation.
The Executive Vice President of the Jabodebek LRT, Mochamad Purmonosidi said that since the ASN policy was implemented, the Jabodebek LRT recorded a significant increase in the number of users on Wednesday.
"We see the enthusiasm of the community who is getting higher in using public transportation, especially every Wednesday. This shows that the policy is effective in encouraging changes in mobility patterns that are more efficient and environmentally friendly," he said in an official statement, Friday, June 20.
In eight weeks of implementing the policy, the number of Jabodebek LRT users on Wednesday was recorded as 818,796 users, or an average of 102,350 users per week.
"This number increased by about 12 percent compared to the previous eight weeks, which recorded a total of 728,696 users, or an average of 91,087 users per week," he said.
Therefore, Purnomosidi admitted that his party welcomed the DKI Jakarta local government's plan to expand similar policies for private employees.
Furthermore, Purmonosidi said that the expansion of policies to the private sector could strengthen a more inclusive and sustainable public transportation ecosystem.
"If later private employees are also directed to use public transportation, the impact will be wider, not only for transportation service managers such as the Jabodebek LRT, but also for the environment and quality of life of the community as a whole. The Jabodebek LRT is ready to fully support this effort through reliable and integrated services," he said.
