The Indonesian Minister Of Agriculture And Russia Meet To Discuss Sugar Investment To CPO Exports

JAKARTA - Indonesian Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman together with the Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Oksana Nikolaevna Lut discussed investment in sugar to exports of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) in a bilateral meeting in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Quoting Antara, in the agenda of the discussion, the two ministers discussed a number of strategic matters.

First, increasing investment in the sugar sector through the Indonesia-Russia partnership, second, increasing the export volume of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) Indonesia to the Russian market, and the third is the plan to develop the joint fertilizer industry as part of the food security cooperation.

Fourth, the opening of access to meat imports from Russia to Indonesia, as well as the fifth strengthening of technical cooperation and technology-based agricultural research.

The meeting was also witnessed by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto. This strengthens the message that cooperation in the agricultural sector is one of the important pillars in bilateral relations between the two countries.

President Vladimir Putin in a state meeting held at the Konstantin Palace, St. Petersburg, Thursday (19/6), stated Russia's commitment to expanding strategic cooperation with Indonesia in various fields, including agriculture, space exploration, energy and defense.

We are developing a lot of cooperation in agriculture, space exploration, energy, and military and technical areas. There are many opportunities and we have the capacity to develop together," said President Putin.

Meanwhile, President Prabowo Subianto said that the relationship between Indonesia and Russia continues to show a positive and potential trend, especially in the economic sector.

"Our relationship continues to increase. I see a lot of progress in various sectors. The economy is improving, cooperation is getting wider and more productive," said President Prabowo.

On that occasion, the Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Oksana Nikolaevna Lut officially invited the Indonesian Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman to make a special visit to Russia in October 2025.

The invitation was delivered directly in a bilateral meeting between the two Presidents who were accompanied by each accompanying minister at President Putin's Palace.

The official invitation to the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia is a symbol of the seriousness of the two countries in strengthening strategic partnerships in the food sector, as well as opening up greater opportunities for agricultural business actors between the two countries to be interconnected and developing.

The visit of the Minister of Agriculture Amran to Russia in October 2025 is expected to be a momentum to follow up on concrete cooperation commitments that have been discussed, as well as pave the way for the development of a stronger and more sustainable agricultural industry.
