JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) noted that foreign exchange deposits from natural resources (DHE) to special accounts (resksus) during the period March to April 2025 reached 22.9 billion US dollars.
BI Governor Perry Warjiyo explained that the increase in deposits occurred in line with the implementation of Government Regulation (PP) Number 8 of 2025 concerning Export Result Foreign Exchange (DHE) from business activities, management, and/or natural resource processing.
Meanwhile, the new regulation requires 100 percent storage of DHE SDA in domestic banking for 12 months, and comes into effect from March 1, 2025.
"DHE SDA is included in the reksus of 22.9 billion US dollars. This has increased before the enactment of the new PP," Perry said at a press conference, Wednesday, June 18.
He explained that the domestically stored DHE SDA flow has contributed to increasing liquidity of foreign currencies (varlas) in the domestic market.
Perry explained that of the total USD 22.9 billion, USD 7.6 billion was kept in a foreign exchange general account.
Meanwhile, USD 14.4 billion has been used by exporters for business purposes, of which USD 12 billion has been converted into rupiah currency.

In addition, he said exporters also placed DHE SDA in the form of a foreign exchange term (TD) of US$194 million to strengthen foreign exchange reserves, although the contribution was still relatively small.
Perry emphasized that the implementation of the new regulation regarding the DHE SDA had a positive impact on the supply of foreign exchange and national economic financing.
According to him, although the contribution to foreign exchange reserves through foreign exchange has not been significant, according to him, the effect on economic financing is quite pronounced.
"And that alone is increasingly useful for supporting the national economy," he concluded.
