JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) said that land readiness was one of the challenges in the construction of the Merah Putih Fisherman Village (KNMP). This is because the land needed is to build a KNMP location covering an area of 1 hectare.

Expert Staff to the Minister for Economic, Social and Cultural Affairs, Trian Yunanda, said that land readiness is one of the important factors in the success of the program. This is because the land to be used must be ensured to be clean and clear, close to the port and not isolated.

"Of course this is a challenge in itself. We cannot build on land where the ownership is not clear, yes. The requirements for land building must certainly be clear and clean, so there will be no problems in the future," Trian said at the 'Morning Sea-Kompung Fisherman Modern' event which was monitored online, Monday, June 16.

According to Trian, the KKP is aiming for Batam to be a pilot for the program. However, it still faces challenges. Because not all villages on the coast have land that is ready to be built.

This challenge was also reflected in the construction of Modern Fishermen's Village in Biak, Papua. At that time, said Trian, his party was having difficulties regarding the availability of land.

"For example, in Biak, it was a little less than 1 hectare. We only need 1 hectare to be able to build like that. However, yes, the difficulty is extraordinary," he said.

"We want of course the land to be owned by the local village or local government. However, I think this is a challenge in itself and I think in the future this should also be one of the things we have to prepare," he continued.

Currently, the KKP has received and analyzed 910 KNMP submission proposals. As a result, there are still many lands whose ownership status is unclear.

"There are no claims, there are no disputes. That is not our goal to build this. Well, yesterday we also learned that not all of this ready land is on the mainland," he said.
