Pelni Calls There A Surge In Passengers After There Is A 50 Percent Rate Discount

JAKARTA - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT Pelni (Persero) said there was a significant increase in the number of passengers in line with the implementation of the economic stimulus policy from the government in the form of a ticket tariff discount of 50 percent.

Pelni Corporate Secretary Evan Eryanto said based on sales data from 5-14 June 2025, 197,625 passengers had booked Pelni ship tickets for travel until the end of July 2025.

"This figure shows an increase when compared to the same period in the previous year, namely 142,917 passengers," said Evan, quoted by Antara, Monday, June 16.

According to him, the increase coincided with the school holiday which will take place from June 26 to July 13, 2025, also showing public enthusiasm for the economic stimulus policy.

"In implementing discounts (ticket rates) this week, we noted that the highest sales occurred on June 10, which was 24,924 passengers," he said.

According to him, this shows that a 50 percent discount on boat ticket rates has prompted the community, especially families, to take advantage of school holidays to travel or return to their hometowns.

Despite the surge in passengers, Evan emphasized that his party still pays attention to shipping safety, always coordinates with port authorities in paying attention to the maximum capacity on board for the smooth running of the embarkation and debarkation process.

Pelni also appealed to prospective passengers to order tickets early through the official channel and arrive on time at the port with the appropriate identity.

"We continue to ensure that our fleet is ready to serve the community during the school holiday period," added Evan.

Pelni ensured that the ship's ticket tariff discount program could strengthen connectivity between regions in Indonesia, encourage domestic tourism and expand public access to safe and affordable sea transportation, especially during the school holiday period.

It is known that PT Pelni implemented an economic stimulus policy by providing a ticket discount of 50 percent for ticket purchases and departures starting June 5, 2025, until departure on July 31, 2025.

Pelni said the terms and conditions for the ticket discount include a period of valid discount for ticket purchases and departures from June 5, 2025 to departure on July 31, 2025.

Ticket purchases before June 5, 2025, with normal rates, cannot be returned to the difference of funds; discounts do not apply to departures after July 31, 2025; discounts apply to purchasing class tickets and economic tickets on all passenger ship routes.

Discounts apply 50 percent of the basic rates, excluding insurance and port entrance passes; discounts apply on all official ticket purchase channels of PT Pelni (Persero); Passengers who travel are required according to the identity listed on the ticket.

If the discount ticket quota expires before July 31, 2025, then the next ticket purchase will be subject to a normal rate.
