The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) decided to lower the flight ticket tax during the school holiday period starting in mid-June 2025.
Air Transport Director Agustinus Budi Hartono said that the Directorate General of Hubud had conducted socialization to national airlines and the Online Travel Agent (OTA) regarding the decline in aircraft ticket prices.
"The decrease in ticket prices was carried out by reducing the tax component from 11 percent to 5 percent," said Agustinus in an official statement, Thursday, June 12.
Agustinus explained that the reduction in the tax component was stated in the Minister of Finance Regulation Number 36 of 2025 concerning Value Added Tax on the Submission of Commercial Air Transport Services on Domestic Scheduled Economic Classes during the School Holiday Period Borne by the Government for Fiscal Year 2025.
In addition, Agustinus also said that the Directorate General of Hubud had also assigned the Aviation Inspector to carry out supervision related to the implementation of lower ticket prices, either in the form of direct supervision to airports or seeing directly through online reservation.
Not only that, the Aviation Inspector also increased the schedule for monitoring flight facilities and infrastructure, including fleets operated in all airports in Indonesia.
"Regarding the readiness of air transportation capacity in the context of school holidays, we have asked flight operators to optimize their regular flights first," he explained.
Prepare 331 Aircraft Fleet
Agustinus said that if there is a significant demand for passengers, it can be followed up with a Flight Approval application mechanism in the form of extra flights or larger aircraft type changes.
"Regarding the readiness of domestic scheduled fleets on school holidays, 331 aircraft fleets are available," he said.
