PALEMBANG The Indonesian government under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto continues to show its commitment to strengthening national energy security, especially through the use of New and Renewable Energy (EBT) to reduce dependence on fossil energy.

This step is in line with the efforts of PT Kanz Sapta Energi, a subsidiary of Muara Energi Mutakhir (MEM), which officially operates the Kanzy 3 Minihydro Power Plant (PLTM) in Bengkulu.

As part of the operation, PT Kanz Sapta Energi signed a collaboration with PT PLN (Persero), the Main Distribution Unit of South Sumatra, Jambi, and Bengkulu (UID S2JB). The signing of the Commercial Operation Date (COD) Minutes was held in Palembang, Wednesday, June 4.

The signing was carried out by General Manager of PLN UID S2JB, Adhi Herlambang, and President Director of PT Kanz Sapta Energi, Hery Candra Halim. The event was also attended by the board of directors and commissioners of PT Kanz Sapta Energi, including Billy Tjandra and Andik Setiawan, as well as official representatives from PLN.

Muara Energi Commissioner, Billy Tjandra, said that this collaboration is part of the support for government programs in providing clean and sustainable energy.

"Through collaboration with PLN, we want to ensure that energy generated from renewable sources such as minihidro can be distributed optimally to the community, as well as accelerate the national energy transition to environmentally friendly energy," Billy said in his statement, Thursday, June 5.

He added that the Kanzy 3 PLTM is a tangible form of support for President Prabowo's big agenda to encourage the green energy transition and accelerate national development based on renewable energy.

PLTM Kanzy 3 uses small-scale hydroelectric power generation (minihidro) technology with a capacity below 10 megawatts. This technology utilizes rivers or irrigation canals without the need to build a large dam.

"The benefits are very significant, both for the community and the environment. Minihydro provides stable and environmentally friendly electricity, especially for remote areas. Meanwhile, for nature, this technology has minimal impact because it does not damage the river ecosystem on a large scale," said Billy.

PLTM Kanzy 3 has officially operated commercially after going through a series of testing and certification processes. With a capacity of 5 megawatts, this plant utilizes the flow of the Simpang Aur River in Taba Durian Sebakul Village, Merigi Kelinang District, Central Bengkulu Regency.

Development projects began in 2022 and PLTM began operating on May 16, 2025. It is hoped that this plant will supply an average of 30 million kWh of electricity per year to the PLN network.

"This is equivalent to electricity needs of more than 20,000 households per year, or some sub-districts depending on the consumption level of each region. At the same time contributing to reducing carbon emissions to thousands of tons of CO2 each year," added Billy.

This collaboration also opens up job opportunities, drives the village economy, and becomes a real example of synergy between the government and the private sector in encouraging sustainable development.

In addition to developing minihidro, PT Kanz Sapta Energi has also expanded its portfolio to other renewable energy sectors such as gas plants (cavity gas), geothermal, and large-scale hydropower plants. This diversification is carried out so that the green energy sources developed are in line with Indonesia's geographical potential.

PT Kanz Sapta Energi is a subsidiary of Muara Energi Mutakhir, which was founded in 2022 with the vision of becoming a pioneer in providing clean and sustainable energy in Indonesia.

The company's main focus is the development of large-scale hydropower plants above 10 megawatts, as well as exploring other alternative energy potentials to support environmental sustainability and create an environmentally friendly energy future and side with the community.
