JAKARTA - PT Waskita Karya Tbk (WSKT) is building an animal bridge on the Nusantara Capital (IKN) Section 3B of the KKT Segment Kariagau Intersection with a project value of IDR 2.6 trillion.
The facility was built as a safe route for Kalimantan endemic wildlife.
The 81.6 meter long bridge will be a liaison between hills in the protected forest area of the Wein River. The area is indeed the natural habitat of various animals, such as tree branches, seeds, sun bears to orangutans.
"This bridge connects between hills and hills, to facilitate the movement of animals that have habitats in the protected forest of the Wein River. As is known, the protected forest is close to the IKN Section 3B Toll Road which is also being built by the company," said Waskita Corporate Secretary Ermy Puspa Yunita as quoted from her official statement, Friday, May 23.
Ermy said the animal bridge consisted of two tunnel-shaped trajectories that were buried.
He said the construction also used light piles or mortar foams to replace the land. The effort was carried out as a form of Waskita's commitment to sustainable development.
According to Ermy, his party is not only working on infrastructure projects, but also has a concern to protect the ecosystem and the environment.
"The company realizes that not only humans need safe and comfortable road facilities, animals need it. So, Waskita feels proud to be able to build this bridge as well as contribute to maintaining fauna and natural balance in the country," he said.
Even so, Ermy did not deny that the project challenges were quite large because they were directly adjacent to the wildlife corridor.
