JAKARTA - Chairman of the Suroto Strategic Economic Socio Cadre Association (AKSES) assesses that economic democratization can be a solution for the demands of online motorcycle taxi driver (ojol) partners to transportation application-based companies (applicators).
"With an open ownership system, everything becomes transparent and no one is harmed anymore. Meanwhile, the government can be a fair referee for all," Suroto said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 21.
"Thus, the economic democratization system should have occurred and the mutual cooperation economy and the Pancasila economic system should have been practiced," he added.
As for this disclosure, continued Suroto, one of them can be achieved through a company meeting involving related parties.
"The company's general meeting, where the determination of company policies will be the most decisive place for all fair policies. The rates are determined together, the profits are shared, and the burden is shared," said Suroto.
Previously, thousands of ojol driver partners held demonstrations in various regions, including in Jakarta on Tuesday, May 20 yesterday.
This demonstration is said to be the peak of the disappointment of online drivers with the first demands asking the President of the Republic of Indonesia and the Minister of Transportation to impose strict sanctions on application companies that violate the regulation of the Minister of Transportation Regulation Number 12 of 2019 and the Minister of Transportation of KP Number 1001 of 2022.

Separately, the Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Yassierli said the government is now focusing on social security and guarantees of work accidents for ojol driver partners.
"The urgent concern at this time is how ojol driver partners can get employment social security and work accident guarantees," Yassierli said at a press conference in Jakarta.
"Later on, (this study and discussion) will lead to regulations that we are still on process," he said.
