Minister Of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi About Grab Wanting To Annex GoTo: I'm Not Entering The Business Area

JAKARTA - Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi opened his voice regarding Grab Indonesia's plan to acquire PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO).

He said this was not the authority of the Ministry of Transportation.

"I'm sorry I don't want to enter the area. This is a business, when it comes to acquisition, of course both of them are regulated regarding the acquisition. So, I don't want to regulate what is not my area to regulate," he said in Jakarta, Monday, May 19.

Even so, Dudy said the government would certainly monitor the acquisition plan. The goal is to protect the interests of the community.

"The most important thing to see is the impact on society. Maybe the government, in this case, will see how far the impact of this issue is related to the community," he said.

According to Dudy, the acquisition plan also caught the attention of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) considering GoTo's status as an open company registered on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX).

Furthermore, Dudy said, OJK certainly has provisions that must be met by companies that want to carry out the acquisition.

"There is information disclosure that must be conveyed by each company related to the plan, whether it is to be acquired or to be acquired," he explained.
