JAKARTA - PT Hutama Marga Waskita or Hamawas revealed that a number of obstacles faced in building the Kuala Tanjung Toll Road "Parapat (Kutepa) Section 4 Sinksak" Panei Intersection.

Hamawas Technical Director Jimmy Leonard assessed that the challenges and difficulties included the condition of the land in the field.

"So, the land handling method of soil placement using replacement land materials has passed the laboratory test, in order to achieve the required density and carrying capacity of land," Jimmy said as quoted from his written statement, Friday, May 16.

Another challenge is the existence of hard rock soil at several points requires the use of heavy equipment such as breakers to get the desired elevation.

The goal is to support the smooth excavation so that the construction acceleration continues.

Jimmy said that the construction of this toll road has reached 95 percent, which is targeted for completion in September 2025.

Thus, it is hoped that the community can use it during the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 moments.

"This toll road will be equipped with two toll gates located in Sinaksak and Simpang Panei," he said.

The Panei Intersection Toll Gate (GT) is designed to facilitate access to the capital city of Simalungun Regency and shorten the distance to the Lake Toba Super Priority Tourism Destination (DPSP).

If usually from Medan to Raya it takes 3 hours, now it can be taken to 1 hour 30 minutes.

"It is hoped that this toll road can be completed soon, so that the benefits will be felt by the community," concluded Jimmy.
