JAKARTA - The global logistics company, Rhenus Group, strengthens its commitment to sustainability by sharing various environmentally friendly solutions.
Currently, Rhenus Group has set a global target of achieving climate neutrality across business sites by 2045, with broader ambitions to contribute to emission-free logistics according to international climate goals.
So, what is the logistics company's strategy in Indonesia?
Managing Director Rhenus Indonesia Fabian Kieble said, at least two strategies will be carried out to achieve the net zero emissions target or net zero emissions (NZE) according to the government's target in 2060.
First, measuring emissions from business activities and trying to switch to using renewable electricity and supporting the use of electric vehicles (EVs).
"Then, support customers in implementing sustainable solutions to measure emissions and optimize transportation by considering costs, time and emissions," Fabian said as quoted from his written statement, Thursday, May 15.
Fabian added that in the near future, Rhenus Group will collaborate with a number of parties to achieve the NZE target.
"We are collaborating with all parties to move towards a sustainable future. With the (party) Clean Cargo, we are working together to calculate emissions and benchmarking for sea transportation. Then, together with Clean Air Transport, we want to encourage airlines and freight forwarders to decarbonize air cargo transportation," he explained.
"Then, with Cozero. This is a platform for carbon counting and sustainability and (cooperation) with EcoTransIT in calculating emissions for all modes of transportation," he continued.
