JAKARTA - PT MMS Group Indonesia won an award in the Impact category: Sustainable Impact in Community Green Growth at the 2025 Local Eyes Fest held by Tribunnews at Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta, Thursday 8 May.

The award was given for the success of the Lung Anai Chocolate House initiative in empowering indigenous peoples, especially women and encouraging the preservation of cultural heritage, agricultural practices and community-based chocolate processing in Kutai Kartanegara, East Kalimantan.

The Lung Anai Chocolate House program was initiated by MSSGI's subsidiary, PT Multi Harapan Utama (MHU), which collaborated across sectors with the Lalut Isau Farmers Group, Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) and the Kutai Kartanegara Plantation Service. In addition, MHU also involved the Nusantara Madani Village Care Foundation and the Faculty of Agriculture, Kutai Kartanegara University, which played a role in providing assistance and training to the community in processing cocoa into packaged chocolate.

The Chocolate Lung anai house has a cocoa plantation managed by about 50 farmers with a total land of about 100 hectares. On average, a farmer is able to manage two hectares of land and produce around Rp. 30,000 per kilogram (kg) of crude cocoa beans. Local cocoa beans are processed into added value products, ranging from chocolate bars to cocoa powder. Not only that, the Lung Anai Chocolate House is also a center for cultivation and processing engineering training, as well as agrotourism destinations for tourists.

As a result of this program, chocolate farmer Lung Anai received an increase in revenue of 3-4x. In addition, women's involvement increased in chocolate trading, especially in the processing department. This chocolate program has also received appreciation from various parties including the Provincial Government of East Kalimantan.

Wiwin Suhartanto as Division Head Mining Support and Compliance MHU revealed that this award was not solely the result of one party's work, but the result of the collaboration of all stakeholders.

"The Chocolate Lung Anai house is clear evidence that productive use of land can go hand in hand with efforts to empower the economy of indigenous peoples. This program has opened up new business opportunities, improved residents' skills, and at the same time helped maintain environmental balance. This award motivates us to continue to strengthen our commitment to sustainability," said Wiwin.

Meanwhile, MMSGI's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Sendy Greti, explained that through MHU, MMSGI seeks to create future solutions.

"MSGI is committed to creating solutions to improve quality of life and sustainability with responsible business practices that involve inter-line collaboration to have a long-term positive impact," he said.

Sendy added, through all these visions, MMSGI through MHU is both determined to create a sustainable positive impact on the environment and society in the hope of making a real contribution to future generations.

By integrating the principles of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) in all business lines, MMSGI through MHU proves that corporate social responsibility can create long-term value, both for the company, society and the environment. This award is expected to further spur MMSGI to continue to develop innovative programs that have a real impact on a sustainable future.
