JAKARTA - In commemoration of International Labor Day, thousands of port workers, including Unloadloading Workers (TKBM), container truck drivers, and other port workers, gathered at the North Jakarta Youth Center. The event entitled "Worker'snduri & Labor Struggle Reflection" was held as a form of solidarity and appreciation for workers' contributions in maintaining the smooth running of the national logistics chain.

The initiative, which is facilitated by the National Labor Alliance of Indonesian Ports, is full of kinship, marked by shared longing and cutting the cone as a symbol of gratitude and hope for a fairer future for workers. Cross-religious prayers also accompanied the event, reflecting a strong spirit of solidarity.

"This event is not just a warning, but also a form of unity and the spirit of mutual cooperation of port workers to continue to fight for mutual welfare," said Subhan Hadil, National Coordinator of the National Alliance of Indonesian Port Workers as well as General Chairperson of the Central SP TKBM Indonesia, quoted on Saturday, May 3.

BPJS Ketenagakerjaan also supports this activity by opening a consulting booth to provide information about the employment social security program. On that occasion, the Head of the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Jakarta Cilincing Branch, Rita Mariana, emphasized the importance of social security for port workers.

"Large ports play a vital role in the smooth running of logistics systems and distribution of goods, especially in archipelagic countries such as Indonesia. However, this profession also carries a high work risk. One of them is accidents due to heavy equipment, such as cranes and forklifts," said Rita.

Therefore, job protection for port workers is absolute. Starting from providing adequate personal protective equipment (PPE), job safety training, to comprehensive social security.

"Social guarantees presented by BPJS Employment are very important because they not only provide protection for now, but also the future of friends and family," said Rita.
