JAKARTA - Garuda Indonesia officially began operating phase I (departure) flights for prospective Indonesian pilgrims during the 2025 Hajj season to the Holy Land.

On the first day, as many as 4,158 prospective pilgrims were dispatched through 11 flying groups (kloters).

President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Military Commander Tsani said the departure on the first day of today's Hajj flight operations was carried out from five embarkations, namely Solo as many as 1,440 pilgrims, Jakarta as many as 1,179 pilgrims, Ujung Pandang as many as 786 pilgrims, Lombok as many as 393 worshipers, and Medan as many as 360 worshipers.

"All flight services for the congregation will be flown using 13 Garuda Indonesia wide-body fleets," he said in an official statement, Friday, May 2.

In this year's Hajj season, Garuda Indonesia also dispatched as many as 730 Hajj officers who will serve in the holy land, which are divided into 246 groups and departed from seven embarkations, namely Banda Aceh, Medan, Jakarta, Solo, Balikpapan, Makassar, and Lombok.

All prospective pilgrims will be flown gradually to the Holy Land from May 2 to May 31, 2025 for the departure phase, with the aim of Medina on May 2 to 16, 2025 and followed by flights to Jeddah on May 17 to 31, 2025.

Meanwhile, the phase of repatriation of the congregation will start from June 11 to July 10, 2025.

The inaugural flight phase of this year's Hajj departure begins with the GA-5101 flight carrying 386 prospective Lombok Kloter I pilgrims, scheduled to fly from Lombok International Airport at 01.15 WITA, and is scheduled to arrive at Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport, Medina at 07.20 local time.

The military commander said that during this year's Hajj operations, there were more than 25,000 prospective pilgrims over 65 years of age or 28.4 percent of the total pilgrims served by Garuda Indonesia.
