Denying 300,000 Tons Of Rice In Damaged Warehouse, Bulog Boss: The Condition Is Good

JAKARTA - President Director of Perum Bulog, Novi Helmy Prasetya, denied that 300,000 tons of rice in Bulog's warehouse were damaged.

He said the rice had been stored for a long time in Bulog's warehouse.

Even though it has been stored for a long time, Novi emphasized that the rice is still in good condition.

"The storage is six months old. But it's still in very good condition," he said in a meeting with Commission VI of the DPR, in Jakarta, Tuesday, April 29.

Novi said that all rice stored in Bulog's warehouse was maintained in accordance with applicable standards.

He guaranteed that the rice stored in Bulog's warehouse quality was guaranteed.

"We carry out regular maintenance, and it has been carried out on existing rice," he said.

Novi's statement answered a question raised by a member of Commission VI of the DPR, Mufti Anam.

In the meeting, Mutfi asked about the findings of 300,000 tons of damaged rice in Bulog's warehouse.

Therefore, Mufti also asked for an explanation from Perum Bulog. Based on his calculations, Mufti said this damaged rice had cost the state Rp3.6 trillion.

At the beginning of 2025 yesterday there was news that slightly disturbed our minds, namely that 300,000 tons of rice were damaged in Bulog's warehouse. If I count 300,000 tons multiplied by 1,000 kg, multiplied by Rp. 12,000, a lot of Rp. 3.6 trillion in state money was wasted," said Mufti.

In addition, Mufti also asked Bulog for an explanation regarding the rice storage warehouse standards applied by the company.

Mufti assessed that this was needed so that the public could find out how much potential rice was lost or damaged in the warehouse.

"So, I also want to know whether Pak Novi (Bulog President Director) already knows the world's bachmark in rice storage how much potential he has lost and now is there an audit of his potential loss," he said.
