JAKARTA - Minister of Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Maman Abdurrahman revealed the government's plan to include online motorcycle taxi drivers or ojol in the category of MSME actors.

The proposal will be included in the revised MSME Law which is targeted to be discussed in 2026.

"(The goal) is that our brothers and sisters who are activists of online motorcycle taxis have a clear legal umbrella," Maman said at a press conference in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, April 15.

This statement was conveyed by Maman in response to President Prabowo Subianto's request that ojol drivers receive Lebaran bonuses.

Maman explained that e-commerce companies have no obligation to provide holiday bonuses, and the decision is left to each company. As a solution, Maman proposed classifying ojol as a micro business.

Maman argues that by recognizing online motorcycle taxi drivers as MSMEs and clarifying their status, drivers can access various government assistance, including fuel subsidies, 3 kg LPG, to access to KUR financing.

He explained that MSMEs can currently access KUR with low interest rates, namely 6 percent, for a maximum loan of IDR 100 million without the need to provide additional collateral. In addition, MSMEs with turnover below IDR 4.8 billion can also enjoy final tax incentives of 0.5 percent.

In addition, online motorcycle taxi drivers will also receive programs to increase their capacity and training for human resources similar to those that have been given to MSMEs.

Maman said the plan to include ojol in the MSME category is currently still in the internal study stage of the Ministry of MSMEs. Discussions on the revision of the MSME Law will be submitted next year.
