PKP Minister Maruarar Jajaki 2,000 Subsidized House Units For Online Ojek Drivers

JAKARTA - Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait (Ara) is exploring 2,000 subsidized housing units for online motorcycle taxi drivers.

"A total of 1,000 housing units for two-wheeled partner drivers and 1,000 housing units for four-wheeled partner drivers rather than Gojek," Ara said at a press conference in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, April 9.

The Ministry of PKP held a meeting with Gojek to discuss subsidized housing for two-wheeled and four-wheeled partner drivers on Tuesday (8/4).

"So today we are talking about subsidized housing for two-wheeled and four-wheeled partner drivers rather than Gojek," said Ara.

According to him, this was initiated by the direction of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto to himself as Minister of PKP, how subsidized houses could be right on target and also given to people who met the criteria, the criteria were low-income people.

On the same occasion, Gojek CEO Patrick Waluyo supports home ownership for the people, especially for online motorcycle taxi driver partners.

"I am very grateful for the invitation today, we really support the housing ownership program for the people, especially for our driver-partners. Our goal is the same so that our partners are more prosperous and also have their own homes," said Patrick Waluyo.

For information, the Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) said that housing development programs that favor the small people need support from all parties.

In an effort to overcome the problems of spatial and housing in Indonesia, AHY stated that the complexity of land use involving housing, industry, and plantations demands a balance between development and environmental conservation.

AHY explained that the Ministry of ATR/BPN has carried out a comprehensive mapping of the issue of spatial planning and land management throughout Indonesia.

On the other hand, the Ministry of PKP together with related agencies are focusing on providing more affordable housing and residential areas, especially for low-income people.

"One of the targets being promoted is the construction of 3 million houses, as a real solution to overcome the housing backlog which has been a big challenge," AHY added.
