KAI Investigates Fire Of 3 Three Reserve Train Carriages At Yogyakarta Station

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI opened a sura about three reserve train carriages (KA) on fire at Tugu Yogyakarta Station. KAI is currently still investigating the incident.

For your information, three spare train carriages that were in a stable position or parked at the Yogyakarta Tugu Station were burned on Wednesday, March 12 morning. The incident occurred at around 06.44 WIB.

"Regarding why it happened, this is still in the process of further investigation by the KAI internal team and involving related external parties," said KAI VP Public Relations, Anne Purba at the BUMN Ministry office, Jakarta, Wednesday, March 12.

Anne explained that the burning carriage was a spare train and its placement was not on the passenger line, so it did not have an impact on train services.

"Until now, there has not been any disturbing the service. There are no victims either, because it is a spare train, it has been developed, not the passenger flow either," said Anne.

Furthermore, Anne also said that the fire extinguishing process for the three reserve carriages had also been completed.

"It's finished for the blackout, the facilities are also not disturbed," he said.

Previously, it was reported that three reserve train carriages (KA) were in a stationary position or parked in the Yogyakarta Tugu Station standings on fire on Wednesday, March 12 morning.

Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta Feni Novida Saragih said that the fire was reported to have occurred at around 06.44 WIB and was successfully extinguished at 07.30 WIB.

"In this incident there were no victims and did not interfere with train travel. Service to train passengers at Yogyakarta Station continues to run normally," Feni said as quoted by ANTARA.

Feni explained that the carriage that caught fire was a passenger train made from stainless steel which was in a stable or parking condition before being prepared for departure.

"So this train has not been prepared in any series, it is still in a parking position," he explained.

"Until now, the cause of the fire is still under internal investigation by KAI. For the cause, it is still under investigation, we are waiting for the process," said Feni.
