PT PLN (Persero) signed a memorandum of understanding with PT Pindad in collaboration with a study on the development of potential pikohidro and microhydro plants in the outermost, leading, and underdeveloped (3T) regions in supporting electrification and energy transition in Indonesia.

PLN President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo, explained that PLN and Pindad will carry out a Joint Development Study Agreement to produce a picohydro/microhydro generator and manage its operations and maintenance. This collaboration is a strategic step to utilize the surrounding natural resources for the welfare of the community and accelerate the energy transition in Indonesia.

"Through this collaboration, we want to optimize renewable energy sources that are more environmentally friendly and encourage equal access to electricity to remote areas of the country," said Darmawan, Wednesday, March 11.

Darmawan explained, since 1988, Pindad and PLN have collaborated on electricity projects, including maintenance of generators and rehabilitation of electrical equipment. This MoU is a continuation of the strategic cooperation between the two SOEs in realizing national energy security.
