Toll Rate Discounts To Unravel Traffic Density During Lebaran Homecoming Moments

JAKARTA - Economist of the Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (Indef) Eko Listiyanto assessed that the provision of toll tariff discounts aims to unravel traffic congestion (traffic) during this year's homecoming and homecoming moments.

"There are many users of this toll road, so in my opinion, it is appropriate for the toll tariff to be given a discount during the Eid holiday," said Eko as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, February 18.

The provision of toll tariff discounts during the Lebaran holiday aims to anticipate traffic congestion that occurs due to the impact of overcapacity of toll road users who go home and back during Eid.

"Indeed, what should be socialized is how much is the discount, this is usually used to engineer homecoming traffic. Usually, a week before Eid, the discount is rather large so that it can unravel the traffic density indirectly. Make sure that the strategy is used, because actually whether or not the toll road is discounted, it will definitely be full during the Lebaran holiday because the consumers will always be there. It's just a matter of how to engineer traffic through the application of toll tariff discounts. Between the implementation of toll tariff discounts with the holiday phase, especially civil servants and the private sector, it must be calculated in such a way that later the homecoming flow can be more stable and not congested," said Eko.

For information, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto announced eight policies to encourage economic growth in the first quarter of 2025, including a stimulus to leverage people's purchasing power.

The government will continue to implement strategic policies to encourage national economic growth.

One of them is the Ramadan-Lebaran 2025 stimulus which includes discounted flight ticket prices, discounted toll rates, discounted shopping programs such as Harbolnas 2025, the EPIC Sales 2025 program, and the 2025 Discount BINA.

The economic stimulus is given in order to maintain price stability while increasing people's power when welcoming the National Religious Holidays (HBKN).
