ATC Tower And IKN VVIP Airport Terminal Completed

JAKARTA - The land side of the Nusantara International Airport or Nusantara International Airport project in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan Province, has been completed.

This land side includes VVIP and VIP terminals, Air Traffic Control (ATC) towers, administrative offices and worship buildings.

Meanwhile, some additional work such as the drainage system is targeted for completion in March 2025.

Executive Vice President (EVP) Secretary of Hutama Karya Adjib Al Hakim said the company is committed to completing this project with the best standards.

"We are committed to completing this project with the best standards, so that it can support the connectivity and activities of the government at the upcoming IKN," said Adjib in a written statement, Friday, February 14.

To ensure efficiency and quality of development, Hutama Karya adopted the Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology to improve the accuracy of work calculations and real-time progress monitoring.

Thanks to the application of this technology, the VVIP IKN Airport Building project won the 1st place in the Building Category at the 3rd ASEAN BIM Competition 2024 which took place in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia.

The completion of this project is faced with a number of challenges, one of which is high rainfall.

High rainfall had caused puddles at several points in the project area because the drainage channels had not been connected to the air side facilities.

"When IKN VVIP Airport has been operating, it is hoped that it will become the main catalyst in the surrounding economic growth and strengthen the company's portfolio in the field of air transportation infrastructure," he concluded.
