Affected By Budget Efficiency, Minister Of Public Works Ensures Road And Bridge Repairs Are Abolished

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) ensures that the preservation of roads and bridges this year is abolished. This is due to the absence of a budget allocated for these activities.

This was conveyed by the Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo, during a working meeting (Raker) with Commission V of the DPR RI at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, February 12.

"There are no routine preservation activities for roads and bridges as well as other technical management support for the time being," said Dody.

The Ministry of Public Works's budget this year was cut by IDR 81.38 trillion after President Prabowo Subianto instructed spending savings from the APBN and APBD through Presidential Instruction Number 1 of 2025.

As a result, from the ceiling previously set at Rp110.95 trillion, now the Ministry of Public Works budget only remains at Rp29.57 trillion.

Dody explained that the budget allocation for the Directorate General of Highways in charge of developing roads and bridges was only IDR 12.48 trillion.

"The Bina Marga sector is a total of IDR 12.48 trillion in the 2025 fiscal year (TA). There are no activities to build suspension bridges and preservation of bridges for the time being," he said.

Meanwhile, said Dody, the budget of Rp. 12.48 trillion will be allocated for the construction of 63 kilometers of roads, such as Pansela, Trans Papua and also continuing the border of North Kalimantan and bypasses in North Sulawesi Manado.

Then, to increase capacity and preservation for road improvement along 342 kilometers, construction of bridge duplication of approximately 1 kilometer long, construction of flyovers/underpasses and tunnels of around 242 meters and construction of a 13-kilometer-long toll road (toll road).
