Affected By Budget Efficiency, Ministry Of Industry Turns Off Lights To AC In The Afternoon

JAKARTA - The budget efficiency policy ordered by President Prabowo Subianto has begun to be implemented in various ministries and state institutions.

One of the agencies that has implemented this policy is the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin).

On Wednesday, February 6, VOI had the opportunity to fulfill the Ministry of Industry's agenda invitation which took place in the Garuda Room.

After following the agenda until around 12.17 WIB, the media crew began to do their job to write a news article in the pressroom, which is not far from the Garuda Room.

At that time, it seemed that there was nothing different about the conditions around the pressroom from before the efficiency of the budget.

However, when it entered the afternoon, at around 17.22 WIB, the lighting around the pressroom was turned off.

None of the lights were turned on outside the pressroom. In fact, one of the parts of the aisle that led to the Minister of Industry's (Menperin) room was no longer lit.

The temperature of the air conditioner around the pressroom is no longer cold.

An employee of the Ministry of Industry said that efficiency had begun to be implemented. One of them is to save electricity use.

"We are trying to (store) electricity, because in the circular letter, the Secretary General is 50 percent, we are required to save office operations. Starting from electricity, water, telephone, internet," said the employee.

"So, the arrangement is more, for example, the room temperature is regulated not to be cooler. Using light, it is in the rooms. So maybe the lights are turned off, but the windows are opened so that the light enters," he added.

He added that savings were also made for the use of elevators. According to the employee, at certain times, all elevators will operate normally.

However, after the busy hours end, the Ministry of Industry will only operate a limited number of elevators.

"It was at 07.00 to 07.30. Then at 12.00 to 13.00. Then at 15.45 to 16.30, we normalized it. We were afraid of many queues," said the employee.

"Well, after outside the clock we (operationalized elevators) enough. We coordinated with security and technicians for adequate arrangements," he continued.

According to the Ministry of Industry employee, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry has also instructed the implementation of work from anywhere aka WFA.

Even so, he said, reports that have been made must be reported every day.

"The tasks must be reported, (but) they can be done anywhere. However, there is a certain radius developed by Pusdatin. It works in certain (places), but it still has to report its duties. There are reports every day," he said.

When asked how long the efficiency will be carried out, the employee does not know. It's just that, he said, the implementation of efficiency is effective starting Wednesday, February 6.

"There is no mention of the deadline, really. So, the language is starting to apply," he concluded.

Previously, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry, Eko SA Cahyanto, said that his institution was affected by budget efficiency of Rp. 1.1 trillion. Initially, the Ministry of Industry had a budget of a total of Rp. 2.5 trillion.

With this cut, currently the total budget received by the Ministry of Industry is IDR 1.4 trillion.

"This efficiency is almost all ministries or institutions because there is an instruction from the president (Inpres). The efficiency we received is around 44.38 percent of the existing budget ceiling in 2025," said Eko some time ago.
