Deputy Minister Sudaryono Calls Grain HPP Rp6,500 Per Kg Prabowo's Commitment To Welfare Farmers

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Agriculture (Wamentan) Sudaryono said that the absorption of Harvested Dry Grain (GKP) according to the Government Purchase Price (HPP) of Rp. 6,500 per kilogram is President Prabowo Subianto's commitment to prosper farmers.

"Swasembada is a priority from the President that we must be able to fulfill. This means that the national stock must be sufficient and the farmers must also be prosperous. Therefore, the President has decided that the HPP is Rp. 6,500 and Bulog is targeted at 3 million," said the Deputy Minister as stated in Jakarta, Monday.

Sudaryono, who also serves as Chairman of the Supervisory Board (Dewas) of Perum Bulog, emphasized that the purchase of unhulled rice in accordance with HPP is part of President Prabowo Subianto's commitment to improving the welfare of farmers.

He stated that this was one of the efforts to accelerate food self-sufficiency in Indonesia.

"I think self-sufficiency is a convincing commitment from our President, the program is clear, the vision is also clear, it's just a matter of implementation that we have to maintain, such as the price of unhulled rice, not being allowed to go down from the HPP. Everything has been given, only the implementation that we are waiting for," said the Deputy Minister.

It is known, the government has set a waste cellphone for the 2025 harvest period of IDR 6,500 per kilogram.

This decision is effective from January 15, 2025, both for purchases by the government and private mills throughout Indonesia.

He emphasized that the absorption of unhulled rice in accordance with the HPP is very important for Bulog to ensure that national food stocks are sufficient and improve the welfare of Indonesian farmers.

He also emphasized that food self-sufficiency is President Prabowo's top priority which must be met immediately.

According to him, this policy will slowly improve the welfare of farmers but surely. So, he continued, Indonesia can cut off dependence on food imports which have been quite large so far.

"The goal is that we can guard the purchase price of unhulled rice at the farmer level so that the NTP (farm exchange rate) also increases. So the state comes directly to contact the farmers," said Sudaryono.
