JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto issued presidential instruction (Inpres) Number 1 of 2025 concerning Expenditure Efficiency in the Implementation of the 2025 APBN and APBD.

Through these instructions, the government is now making a massive budget cuts to the state budget this year.

One of those affected by the budget cuts was the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin).

It is known that the Ministry of Industry's budget was cut by 43.3 percent of the 2025 budget ceiling.

When viewed from the Ministry of Industry's 2025 budget ceiling of IDR 2.5 trillion, the budget of the state institution affected by efficiency reached IDR 1.1 trillion.

Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry Eko SA Cahyanto said, by cutting the budget, his party made various savings in various aspects.

Starting from electricity, water, domestic and foreign official travel to cutting the allocation of fuel oil (BBM) for Echelon I and II officials of the Ministry of Industry.

"What we are efficiencying is the allocation of fuel for Echelon I and II officials," said Eko when met at the Ministry of Industry office, Jakarta, Thursday, February 6.

For electricity and water savings, said Eko, his party carried out a Work From Anywhere (WFA) working pattern. Based on his calculations, this WFA will greatly help to reduce electricity and water costs.

"We have calculated that every person in front of the elevator stuck the elevator button at Rp2,000 and in this building there are around 2,500 people. If you go up in the morning, then take a break at noon and come back up and down again. In fact, it can be 4 times more for ups and downs. If multiplied by 2,500 people is not bad," he said.

"Even from electronic devices beyond the direct need to work, such as laptops, computers, printers and others, that's 500 kilowatts we need for the operation of this building."

Regarding the budget allocation for employee pick-up, Eko emphasized that there was no cut related to this. He also ensured that the budget for public services would not be disrupted.

"We prioritize that public services should not be reduced, 100 percent of public services continue to run. So, we reduce office operations," he said.

Previously, Eko said that his institution was affected by budget efficiency of Rp. 1.1 trillion. Initially, the Ministry of Industry had a budget of a total of Rp. 2.5 trillion.

With this cut, currently the total budget received by the Ministry of Industry is IDR 1.4 trillion.

"This efficiency is almost all ministries or institutions because there is an Presidential Instruction. We receive an efficiency of around 44.38 percent of the existing budget ceiling in 2025," Eko told reporters when met at the Ministry of Industry office, Wednesday, February 5.

"Then we (prioritize) the need for personnel spending," he continued.

Eko said that his institution is still making adjustments to the efficiency of the budget.

Even so, he emphasized that the budget cuts did not interfere with a number of programs that had been prepared.

"Currently, we are still calculating. We have until February 14 to convey to the Minister of Finance (Sri Mulyani) the value of each component that has been given a recommendation by the Minister of Finance for efficiency," said Eko.

"Therefore, there must be a way to ensure that performance is maintained, operations continue, public services must also be implemented and our targets can be achieved," he continued.
