BPS Reveals Inflation January 2025 Is Lower Than The Previous Year

JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded inflation in January 2025 which was recorded at 0.76 percent on an annual basis or year on year (yoy) or lower than January 2024 which was recorded at 2.57 percent.

Plt. Head of BPS, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti said the Consumer Price Index (JCI) was 105.99 in January 2025.

"The annual inflation in January 2025 is lower than the previous month and the same month in the previous year," he said at a press conference, Monday, February 3.

Amalia said that the annual inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by the increase in most expenditure group indexes.

The expenditure group index that has increased is the food, beverage and tobacco group at 3.69 percent, the clothing and footwear group at 1.24 percent, the equipment group, equipment and routine maintenance at 1.14 percent.

Then the health group was 1.84 percent, the transportation group was 0.76 percent, the recreation, sports and culture group was 1.11 percent.

Furthermore, the education group was 2.05 percent, the food and beverage/restaurant supply group was 2.47 percent, and the personal care and other services group was 7.27 percent.

Meanwhile, the expenditure groups that experienced a decrease in the index were housing, water, electricity, and household fuel groups by 8.75 percent, as well as information, communication, and financial services groups by 0.30 percent.

On the other hand, the highest annual province inflation occurred in the Papua Mountains Province at 4.55 percent with a CPI of 112.06 and the lowest occurred in Central Sulawesi Province at 0.02 percent with a CPI of 105.90.

Meanwhile, the deepest annual provincial deflation occurred in Gorontalo Province at 1.52 percent with a CPI of 104.85 and the lowest occurred in East Nusa Tenggara Province at 0.06 percent with a CPI of 106.11.

Meanwhile, the highest annual district/city inflation occurred in Jayawijaya Regency at 4.55 percent with a CPI of 112.06 and the lowest occurred in Pontianak City at 0.02 percent with a CPI of 105.12.

Then the deepest annual district/city deflation occurred in Gorontalo Regency at 1.71 percent with a CPI of 105.87 and the lowest occurred in Palopo City at 0.01 percent with a CPI of 104.69.
