JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that throughout 2024, Indonesia's total durian imports reached 459.3 tons with a value of US$3.6 million or equivalent to Rp58.77 billion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp16,325 per US dollar).
Acting (Plt) Head of BPS Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti said durian imports throughout 2024 mostly came from neighboring countries, namely Malaysia and Thailand.
"As of December 2024, we import durian 459.3 tons. The value is 3.6 million US dollars, the origin of durian imports from January to December 2024 is Malaysia and Thailand," he said at a press conference, Wednesday, January 15.
On a monthly basis, said Amalia, Indonesia's total durian imports in December 2024 were 29.8 tons. The import value reached 246.7 thousand US dollars.
"If it's 246.7 thousand US dollars, the origin is mostly from Malaysia," he said.
Although recorded imports, Amalia said Indonesia also exports durian to various countries. The total durian exports throughout 2024 are 600 tons.
