Cost Telan Rp1.7 Triliun, Rukoh Garapan Dam Waskita Karya Immediately Inaugurated

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) announced that it will inaugurate six dams at the beginning of this year. One of them is the Rukoh Dam, directed by PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk, which is located in Pidie Regency, Aceh.

The dam worth IDR 1.7 trillion has a capacity of 128 million cubic meters (m3). The project will later irrigate an irrigation area of 11,950 hectares (ha) with a rice-padi-palawijia planting pattern and a planting intensity of 300 percent.

PU Minister Dody Hanggodo said that water resource infrastructure is very important to support food self-sufficiency targets, so that construction continues.

"We can see, for example, from dams, dams, then entering primary, secondary, and tertiary irrigation, to directly go to rice fields," he said, Saturday, January 11.

Waskita Karya Corporate Secretary Ermy Puspa Yunita added that the construction of the Rukoh Dam is a form of support for water security and food sovereignty in Aceh. He explained that the flow of water from dams to irrigation areas will increase agricultural productivity, so that it will also have an impact on the welfare of the people in the province.

"The Rukoh Dam is expected to provide a multiplier effect for the community. Not only for irrigation, but also for reducing the potential for flooding by 89.62 percent," said Ermy.

This project, he continued, also has the potential to become a Solar Power Plant (PLTS) of 140 MegaWatts (MW). Then able to provide raw water of 0.90 m3 per second.

The Rukoh Dam was already in the reservoir filling process at the end of last December. It is hoped that the benefits of the dam can be felt soon by the people of Aceh, especially around Pidie Regency," he explained.

Please note, Waskita Karya is working on the Package II Rukoh Dam through Waskita-Adhi-Andesmont Operational Cooperation (KSO). The total contract value is IDR 1.24 trillion.

Previously throughout 2024, there were four Perseroan Perseroan dams that had been inaugurated. The dam covered Karian in January, Margatiga and Leuwikeris in August, and Temef in October.
