Ojol Gets Fuel Subsidy, Here's The Fate Of Base Taxi And Online Taxi Ojek

JAKARTA - Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Maman Abdurrahman ensured that online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojol) are still entitled to receive the allocation of fuel oil (BBM) subsidies because, ojol is included in the category of micro-enterprises that receive the subsidy.

Meanwhile, it is related to the fate of online taxi drivers. Maman handed over the matter to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia, who is the head of the Subsidized Fuel Supervision and Monitoring task force (task) and the Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi.

"For us, I think it is the realm of the Ministry of Transportation, the realm of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources," Maman told the media crew after holding an audience with the Online Ojek Association, Friday, December 6.

Maman explained, for 4-wheeled vehicles that are entitled to fuel subsidies, vehicles that have yellow vehicle plates. Meanwhile, for vehicles with black plates, they will not receive subsidized fuel.

Maman said, the Ministry of MSMEs has a mandate to protect the lower-tier economic sector. One of the priorities is to maintain the sustainability of public transportation such as online motorcycle taxis. For that, he said, it must be ensured that the allocation of subsidized fuel remains on target.

According to him, the Government is currently preparing a mechanism for verifying motorcycle users. There are around 120 million motorcycle users in Indonesia, but those who are categorized as subsidized recipients are those who carry out ojol activities.

It is estimated that there are around 4 million to 5 million ojol drivers, especially in urban areas. The mapping process is still being carried out to ensure valid data," he said.

Meanwhile, for the base motorcycle taxi, he said, his party will conduct further discussions with the related team. The reason is, the subsidized fuel scheme is still being discussed by the task force.

"We will try this (background motorcycle taxi) later. We will secure it first, we will discuss it later," continued Maman.

Maman is also reluctant to speak further regarding what scheme will be imposed on the recipients of the entitled fuel subsidy.

"What is the scheme like, I can't talk yet. That's why I said earlier this is still in the excellence stage," said Maman.

Furthermore, Minister Maman will also summon operator companies such as Grab, Gojek, and other operator companies to request registered driver data.

"We will integrate this data with Pertamina to facilitate the process of providing fuel subsidies," said Maman.
