The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) has stated that it is ready to roll out machine restructuring incentives and production equipment for the food and beverage industry (mamin) to increase the sector's contribution to the country's foreign exchange.

The Director General of Agro Industry at the Ministry of Industry, Putu Juli Ardika, said that his party had held a coordination meeting with 100 industry players and associations in the food and beverage sector, so that the program runs optimally.

"This activity is carried out to get input from all stakeholders on the draft machine and equipment restructuring program for the food and beverage industry," Putu said in a written statement, Friday, May 10.

Putu assessed that the provision of a machine restructuring program to the food and beverage sector was an expansion effort taken by his party. This is because the program previously implemented in the wood and furniture processing industry turned out to have a big impact on increasing competitiveness and sectoral income.

He revealed, since 2022 as many as 24 wood and furniture processing companies have participated in this production machine and equipment restructuring program. That number consists of nine companies in 2022 and 15 companies in 2023, with a total budget of IDR 10 billion.

"Based on the report of companies receiving restructuring program funds in 2022, this program has an impact on increasing company efficiency by 10-30 percent, product quality by 10-30 percent and company productivity by 20-30 percent," he said.

Therefore, based on the achievements this program has produced in other sectors, the Ministry of Industry has decided to expand the scope of engine restructuring and production equipment to the food and beverage industry.
